The girls and I had been waiting with all of our packs for Rich, while he was getting our tickets switched, in the bus terminal. It turned out that we needed to move from terminal 24 to 16. So everyone loads up their bags- I have my pack on my back, Emma’s pack on my front, and my backpack on my forearm. I accidentally dropped a piece of garbage and had to pick it up.

Did I have the fleeting thought, “this probably isn’t a good idea”? Yes. Did I also think, “Oh, I’ve got this!” Yes. I knelt down and ever so slowly toppled over onto my left side and around onto my back. Much similar to a turtle. I just smiled, saw that my family was now at the other end of the terminal, and looked up to find a very friendly chilean bus driver, that reminded me in looks of my Uncle Dick (a very loving man that smiled with his eyes, he passed when I was 15), bending down while extending his hand and said “don’t worry, it’s okay”. He helped me up and then bent down and picked up the piece of garbage I was after.

  1. I love following this! I also wasn’t sure if this was the correct place to respond to your blog. Anyhow, we thought of you on Christmas and New Years! Happy New Year 2025 to you all!!
